panzertank27
last weekend i went to a flea market and i found a guy that was selling old files (and other junk too) i searched and found a stash of 16 inch long 1 3/4 wide and about 3/8 thick flat bastard files . all globe made in canada. 50 cents each. i grabbed 10. so i guess i want to know if its a good price. and if you think i should use water or oil to quech( i guess i could test to see as well just wonder if its rules of thumb forfiles in water) ,also what kind of steel are old files. oh yeah should i go snag the rest . there are heaps.... Charlotte
I'd be happy to get for that price.

ThomasPowers
Good brand old files are usually around 95/100 - 1.2% C (with the *old* blackdiamond not stamped nicholson being the 1.2%) *VERY* good price for files that size indeed!
petersenj20
you bought ten didn't you? I get roughly the same to a dollar for mine at the market.
