  1. Hi all, I'm trying to learn how to make a NARB and there's been a wealth of knowledge in here but I have a question or two that i couldn't find an answer for. Mainly, what kind of tip/nozzle do I want to use for the injection of propane? I see MIG tips are used and my current propane forge is a NA single burner, could I use that very tip or would I want a smaller orifice? And, how would I want to connect it to a black iron pipe T? I understand that a wood block is good to test but not a hard and fast idea as the actual cast of the burner is where the work is at. Would I want to use like, mizzou or kastolit? All my experience has been satinite so far. Im sure I have other questions but they currently escape me. Thanks all.
  2. I've read what I can of how to make one but nothing ever felt definitive. Ive seen that some folks get lost in the weeds with volume calculations to number of burner ports and some that just kinda built one. Im sure some kind of figuring would be needed to at least decide how many ports are desired but would one REALLY need to do calculus to build one? Or am I just getting lost in the sauce?
  3. Hey all, new here. Did some homework and research from this site, while informative and relevant to the question at hand, I could not find any info on what steels make good strikers for firesteels. I'm currently working a piece of leaf spring and it's coming along but read somewhere that they don't produce an adequate amount of sparks and that 80Crv2 would be better. Seen O1 and O2 but I'm not experienced with either of those and I've even seen some 10XX steels. So... is there a best steel or is it really just using a known HC steel, heat treat and maybe a temper?
