I know a little about fireplaces and wood stoves, but not sure how that transfers to forges.

That was my first forge, pile of dirt with a hole in the middle, charcoal for fuel. Metal pipe and hair dryer for blower.

Frosty, I once made rice crispy treats around Christmas that I added red food coloring to.
They looked like ground beef.

Had a similar incident with my generator, had put a new plug in it and it wouldn't start so I had our small engine guy at work check it.
I had left the plug wire loose after changing it.

I agree. I have a wood stove, generator, extra food and a near by creek if need be.

How about a wire wheel on an angle grinder?

This is not specific to forging but when I working on something whether grinding or forging etc. I tend to clinch my teeth, actually I do it a lot driving, sleeping....
Any how my point is that causes me quite a few headaches.

I have been cleaning off our patio furniture with a wire wheel on a angle grinder and have been hit with quite a few wires flying off, and have been hit everywhere. If I wasn't wearing safety glasses it would have had them in my eyes more than once.
