  1. I've worked all of about 2 hours on one, hardly enough to make recommendations. I'm currently looking as well and have pretty much settled on a Steve Fontanini Anvil after dismissing the farrier models since I'm really interested in blacksmithing for sculptural purposes. Good Luck. Bob
  2. Dief, What can you tell me about the Rat Hole forge? I'm considering purchasing one but its been a chore finding someone who has actually used them. Any pointers would help, I'm looking at the the 250lb version. Thanks Bob
  3. i guess we're not allowed to post web addresses, but if you do a search with that info it will take you to steve's site which includes several pictures of the anvil.
  4. well that didn't work.....try this steve fontanini home page, architectural & ornamental designs in metal in jackson hole wyoming
  5. check this web location for a picture. steve fontanini home page, architectural & ornamental designs in metal in jackson hole wyoming
  6. Thanks for the post. We Grandfather's have a strange sense of value....on most days my Grandson, either of them is worth a good bit more than $1200, but there are those days when i probably would take some cheap cast iron for either of them.
  7. Has anyone used the 250# version of Steve's Anvil. I'm about to purchase one and thought i should ask around before I sell my Grandson to pay for it. Bob
  8. Paul, During the comment string someone mentioned the the edge finish was file work. Was it actually file work? I only ask because you didn't mention that in your description. The edge work combined with the copper "dressing" makes this work truely unique and great piece of work. Thanks for sharing it. Bob
