  1. Thank you all for sharing your wisdom. I've been getting impatient trying to forge hard stuff in my brakedrum. Tent stakes sounds like a good idea(thanks dablacksmith!)
  2. I've been looking around and finding no answers so I'll risk starting a thread. I'm going to a craft fair soon and I'll be demonstrating pottery making. This folk fest (silver springs) is a stop for many schools' field trips. What type of forged items do kids like? Does anyone have ideas or experiences with selling some things? Thanks in advance.
  3. Thank you for posting this wise advice. If this was a requirement to be allowed to blacksmith, there would be many fewer than there are.
  4. Wow, great answers. Can't wait to try them. Thank you all!
  5. Thank you sir. I will certainly try that.
  6. Thank you for the good point sir. Thank you for the link sir.
  7. Good evening everyone, I'm a newbie whose been searching all over for the answer to a question that someone with years of experience might know. Should I begin by forging simple projects that increase in difficulty, or try to tackle harder projects until I get them right? I'm not asking you to look it up. I'm just hoping that some master is willing to pass on information that not everyone knows. Thanks in advance, Hux.
  8. Hey y'all, I'm just east of Tallahassee and I have a newbie question. What skill level projects should I start with? As in, would it be better to try advanced projects like forge welding, grilling tools, and shelf brackets; or start with easier things like hooks and such, and gradually progress to higher-skilled projects? If there is already a thread on this please let me know where. Thanks in advance, Hux.
