Black Bear forge and Joey can see steeg are both very good channels on the you tube. I like the instruction and project suggestions that John gives on black bear forge.

I like that hammer. I just got a couple feet of crome Ally shaft that I'm going to try and make some hammers out of.

I just realized that my phone auto corrected something I wrote earlier.

I found out that PINE scraps easily get up to welding heat.

Thank you for that link Glenn. Those are the exact steps I followed today!

You could bend a coat hanger to the shape to try it out as well.

I like your take on John's design Snuffy!

Thanks for all the advise fellas! I'll burn up this XXXX playing around then give it a try implementing what you all have told me.

Thanks! I wish I would've made these a long time ago. They are a really handy design!

Thanks George. I'll keep looking on line. Everything I've found so far seems ridiculously expensive.

Okay, so I do not clay the fire pot, but I do clay the whole pan. Got it.

I recently inherited my great grandfather's forge. It says clay before using in what I'll call the "fuel storage area". I've read all the threads on here that I could find about claying the forge. What I haven't been able to figure out is do I clay just the flat pan surface where it says to clay before using? Do I clay the firepot only? Or do I clay the entire thing? Thank you in advance for your advice!

Yep now I just need to find a good source of coal. Everything I found on line is stupid expensive. But I'm hoping with Wyoming next door I'll be able to get a good line on some stuff.

Nice first hook BJ. But unless you have an anti gravity device in your shop I don't know how well it's gonna work like that!
-
That's a very clever key hook. I like it!

Make that little flip at the end a beer bottle opener?
That's exactly what it is
Spend some more time in the shop today. But I had a partner this time! She was really excited to do her own project and turned out a pretty nice heart! I made another hoof pick with a twist I've never done before but I like the way it turned out!

The customer is a tack store. So with this first order we're trying a few different ideas so we can see what their customers like.
What did you do in the shop today?

Thanks Rojo and Jennifer. If had the design in my head for quite a while. I was happy to finally put hammer to steel on it! I want to make 4 or 5 more the bathrooms at a foundation I work for.
