    Mikey, I am new to this forum and have been exploring . Having found the forge building 101 thread I am totally blown away by the information I have gathered in just a couple of pages. My concept of how a forge works has been completely changed and a rather large number of questions have been answered . I thank you for the effort .This should also extend to frosty the Lucky and all the other contributors on that thread.

    What would you consider a forge welding temperature for low carbon steel?? I am thinking about 2500° https://www.omega.com/pptst/NBCAXL_NNXL.html something like this??

    I am having a problem finding anything that can possibly measure 2500°. Tempilsticks only go up to 2000°

    I have read several accounts of temp reached by several forges in this forum and I am wondering how these were measured . I have a thermocouple /meter on my forge now which I guess is OK although I have no clue how it would ever be calibrated. What is everybody using for this ??
