  1. I haven't posted for a bit, but have been spending more time online and in the shop lately. here's a couple of experiments with steel pipe I've tried.
  2. Fe wood, love the name! I want to get my auto tag changed to Fe-man. Wonder how many will get it!
  3. Nice work! Life's too short to drink cheap beer!:D
  4. The pic can't show, but the base is 3/4" plate and the stakes start as 3/4" square. The total height is maybe just under 3'. Pretty solid!:D
  5. Haven't posted in a while, so here's something I finished lately.
  6. I use an old Heller 4# sledge with tooling that is shaping( spring fullers, punches, etc.) I use a brass hammer on any cutoff hardies, because I have seen these ruin some hammers, and if I miss, less resharpening :p
  7. I use an older Sears 8" grinder which looks similar to some Baldor grinders I have seen. This thing is a 60+ lb monster but was made decades ago! Baldor grinders and motors are good, but you pay for what you get.
  8. It may be Heller Bro.s Company. I collect (and use) many Heller tools and would rather pay new prices for an 80 year old Heller hammer than for a new one. They made tools for many trades including 'smithing farriers, even auto body repair. Thier symbol is the horse logo as it looks on your hammer. 4$ was a great deal for a useable collectible hammer!:)
  9. Great idea! Would love to see more details, like what media, finished product, motor/pulley combos. Been needing a tumbler for a while now!
  10. I'm just a few minutes from Bristol, TN. Also, a few days after I put the spider out I found two real black widows, comlete with babies! So they must think they found a big sister!:o
  11. One of my friends started to attack "Spidey" with a newly forged tomohawk, then decided he needed a bigger axe!! :D
  12. You guys will love the trapdoor spider I'm making right now. It will be crawling out of my water meter "manhole" cover! Think the meter readers will like it? Thanks everyone for all the props.
  13. If you measure across it's about 3 feet, and the tallest point is around 18".
  14. Thanks, Thomas! IFI has been getting more popular with us here in east TN by "word of mouth". Hope to learn a lot from everyone and will help anyone I can.
  15. I wanted to do something just for fun, so this was for my lawn. It loves to greet visitors coming up my walk! Body is sheet steel cold formed and welded, everything else is forged then welded to the body.New to the forum so I hope the pics work!!
  16. Hello, I'm new to IFI, but thought this might help. I use silver art pencils that usually cost a buck or two. They can easily be seen on sheet or hot mill stock, and no fumes!
