    welding magnets on the grinder

You just reminded me that my brother would put a couple of magnets in a large zip-lock bag turned inside out to catch grinding dust and lathe chips. Then he would turn the bag and pull the magnets off to have a bag full of steel chips.

  2. The bin I made is made out of green fiberglass sheeting and is is about halfway down the left wall behind the lumber when we were adding an addition. It holds about 200 pounds of charcoal. It's the only picture I could find of it. Keeps the pack rats out of the charcoal.

  3. Just a thought about storing charcoal. If you have pack rats around, it will take them no time at all to make off with a lot of charcoal. So if your charcoal seems to be disappearing, you may have to rat proof the storage area. I lost about 50 pounds of charcoal in 2 days to the little critters.

  4. Welcome from the Ozark Mountains. We really need to know where in the world you are located to advise where to obtain one. If you google pinch bar there are a lot of places that list them including Amazon.

Just about any blacksmith would have no trouble forging one and customize it for you, as far as weight and length.

  5. When looking for something on I Forge Iron, the built in search bar is almost useless. If you have read the "Read This First" thread it suggests the best way to do a search.

I will detail it here for everyone who have not seen it. Use your favorite search engine like google. Then type in what you want to look for and end the search string like this site:iforgeiron.com so looking for say curing kastolite the search string would be

    curing kastolite site:iforgeiron.com

I just did that and google gave me 516 results in 0.26 seconds.

  6. Our 2X72 grinder is on a cart with wheels. If I have a lot of grinding to do, I just wheel it out the overhead garage door, wheel it back in when done.

  7. On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, 1918, fighting in WWI officially stopped after Germany signed an armistice agreement with Allies earlier in the day. In 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed legislation that changed the federal holiday's name from Armistice Day to Veterans Day.

My Grandfather served with Gen Blackjack Pershing during that time period. Those veterans are no longer with us, except in spirit. He seldom talked about his experiences then, except being a blacksmith in the Pancho Villa Mexican Expedition.

At some point, I went to grab the ball, I had to be quick or she would grab it and run away, and I started feeling sick. I got nauseous, light headed and generally felt terrible all over. I went and sat down until I felt a little better but I felt rough the rest of the day.

Those are classic symptoms of dehydration and heat exhaustion/stroke.
