  1. Congratulations on your finishing treatment, except for follow up visits. I see nothing wrong with your You Tube link. It is good to see you up & about. Ringing the bell three times has a special meaning to me. Like ringing the anvil in the Celtic garden three times. We didn't have a bell in my oncology infusion center, but my doctor took me in the room and said to everyone I was his poster child.:) Due to HIPA he wouldn't say anything else, after my last check up he retired and the doctor who took his place cut me loose yay.

  2. Debi's dad my FIL, was in the Navy stationed at Pearl Harbor on the USS Yorktown, which was at sea the day of the attack. The Yorktown and two other carriers attacked the Japanese fleet after the attack. The Yorktown suffered damage at that time and the crew were able to save her.

He was a Shipfitter rating and was on the damage control team. Later at the battle of Midway the Yorktown was lost/sunk. He survived and was reassigned to the USS Lexington for the remainder of the war. Never did he talk much about it except for his hatred of the Japanese. He told Debi and her sister, if they ever dated a "Jap" (a common term used at the time) he would disown them. He passed away about twenty years ago... RIP John ya done good.

  4. Still nothing I could find in the MSM such a sad state of affairs if you ask me. This is from the muzzleloading forum I am a member of.

  6. Welcome from the Ozark Mountains.

No blower mfg's that I know of listed a serial number so no way of running down a date of mfg. Your blower was made by Canedy-Otto Mfg. About the only way to get in the ball park on date is through old catalogs. I've attached the only one I have, looking through it may help. Doing a search like suggested in the Read This First thread will give you a way to find threads here about them.

  7. I watched the video yesterday and said "I gotta get me one of those" I also liked the adjustable small welding table they built out of a bowling ball, 2 brake rosters and some scrap steel, gotta make one of those too.

We had the same problem, had one of those metal carports big enough for two cars put into the hill. It's worked out pretty well for us, the whole unattached garage is now a shop with the blacksmith shop attached to it.

  9. Beeswax is a major component in muzzleloading.  I use it to make patch lube for round ball loading and minie ball lube for old smooth-bore muskets and later rifled muskets, like used in the AWS (Civil War). It's also used for waterproofing gun stocks and for sealing the flash pan on flintlock rifles in inclement weather. I have restored a lot of original old guns and like to use what was used back in the day. At one time I made a lot of traditional candles from it mixed with tallow. Got a sticking drawer, rub a little bees wax on it. Also if you have dogs, don't leave it where they can get it. They love it and it's good for them (unless they eat a pound at one sitting) especially if it still has honey on it.

  10. I can say that a lot of us have missed you and consider you like a sister, or at least I do. I was not fortunate enough to have a sister, just an older brother to fight with. I love your writing style and so does Debi, she sometimes reads over my shoulder and when you posted about the retort, she said move over and took my seat at the computer.:) Some day I'll get around to building one.

Hope you are staying healthy and happy and visit here once in a while.

  11. You mean you don't appreciate Picasso??? I was trying to figure out what the mustache was made from as well. Debi says copper pipe tapered down painted red.

    Alexander,

If you ever get tired of Ohio (like my folks did in '47) and move to Arkansas make sure you settle in the NW corner and look me up.:)
