  1. Ok, so the coil spring is good for a spring fuller, and to wrap a handle on a hot slit or chisel ect?
  2. ohhhhhh wow, idk why that didn't click lol also what does the 131 stand for anyways??? when I weighed the anvil it was 124.2 #
  3. lol ik that it is a broad topic but just wanted ideas to have things to make I was mostly interested to know which tools would be good for making hot slit tools would the head of a garden hoe be any good? and what type of metal do you think it would be
  4. what do you mean AIA?? Also im curious to know, as far as anvil brands go, how does a Trenton rank?
  5. Well I was intending to talk to him and just ask him the best route to go, he is a really good doctor and he does surgeries ect..
  6. That's everything I was able to find on it that may be important, and from what my eyes can tell the serial number is A2 5 0 8 witb that spacing does that spacing signify anything
  7. And you did understand correctly, basically if I do anything my hand hurts enough within 5 or so minutes that I'm nearly in tears
  8. Woodworking, metalsmithing, blacksmithing and bladesmithing, currently for blacksmithing/blacksmithing the only things I have is a small forge (in the proceses of making a new one) an anvil, a 2.5# hammer(still gotta smooth the face) a pair of tongs and a pair of vice grips, a vice that I use for twisting, a charcoal take that I forged, a monkey/pipe wrench, and a railroad spike that didn't have a head on it so I ground a semi sharp edge to use as a hot slit(decent but not perfect. Preferably of there are decent blacksmithing/blacksmithing tools I could make that's what I would prefer the most for now
  9. If it wouldn't be to much to ask will you read up on them when you get the chance
  10. Well, I had to go home to get something for the house in working on, and I took a second to check and it does faintly look like numbers or something is on the front foot just like you suggested, when I get done with work today I'll be sure to wire brush it and give it a better look,
  11. I cleaned those areas and all that was there was the letters USA and underneath that and just to the left 131 also are there any ideas what brand/age my anvil may be, as well as how it was probably made
  12. hello all, I have 2-4 old felling axe heads, 2 or 3 hoe blades, and multiple other broken tools of similar natures, and I was wondering what are some tools I could make from these, also I have A LOT of rebar (if it is classed as junk but just putting it out there if as a possibility) and a lot of 1/2 inch square bars that are mild steel
  13. I use a computer to do a lot of my research but other than that no video games and same for phone I use it to talk to people and to do research that's it. I wish I could but the big issue is my parents work till dark almost everyday but I did ask my mom and she said we are going ot see my doctor about the middle of this month to get my medicine refilled
  14. Yes, yes it is, I have had to deal with both and I prefer the arm Well as soon as I start on the cleaning I'll be sure to post pics
  15. ,omg I know of the clan your talking about dangit I can't remember their name Wait what is?
  16. Also if there are any maker marks where would they be likely to be?
  17. Lol, as I said frosty I intend to see my doctor as soon as I can, but it's hard finding time to take an hour drive, and I know I'm not immortal lol I'm not that foolish And wow, I didn't realize sinister meant left handed, I've always heard it being a southpaw
  18. Lol tbh Thomas I actually do that lol, I'll use my right hand unless I'm doing the final straightening blows on a knife ect... But wait wouldn't you just be monodextrous then?
  19. Well, could I use a wire wheel attachment for a drill? I was kind of worried it may remove any hidden markings
  20. What are the same ways to clean the anvil by the way, I do not intend to grind the face it is going to stay the exact same way it is but what could I do to the waist and legs and such?
  21. Well I'll try to be careful but I can't stop completely, to do that I'd have to sleep all day and night and do nothing else and I intend to see my doctor and see what he says
  22. OK thanks frosty, glad to hear I can use a ball peen hammer to test the rebound, and believe me if I could I'd never stop forging but I've been helping clean and paint a house my aunt bout so that takes up most of my time
