There all the pictures are up i hope!
I couldn't have picked a much harder place to fit that too. Took a lot of walking back and forth to the house.

Wow, fantastic job on that hammer! Im not far from feeling confident enough to start my railing/gate projects.

My first organic functional art piece. Its about half scrap i picked out of the woodstove at work. What do you guys think??
Only have one bottle of wine at the moment and for some reason its covered in welding pocks, some minor 2nd degree burns and slag. Hahaa
Hope you all like it, my wife loves it and this project has won me some serious points

I think it looks nice...... but I have no idea what a trapping hammer is lol
Thanks, realy pretty happy with it as my first hammer. Learned alot!
My trapping hammer is a cheap 3 lb sledge with a piece of flat welded on the back for digging a trap bed in hard/frozen ground. The other end is for driving trap stakes. We trap yotes in our spare time.

Grind the fat side to match and then continue?
I did just that, its a trapping hammer I promised a friend when i first started smithing. Im unhappy with it in so many ways but it will have to do. He pushed me into the project so any flaws are on his sholders lol.
I knew i wasn't ready but hey, I knocked out my first hammer!!
I cheated a bit with the torches and welder, also had to get creative with the handle making as the eye is way off. Shoud work well for his application though. All in all im just glad its over ! Lol

My slitter was one of the first things i made. Its far from strait. Never thought about the problems that would cause.
A bent slitter is like a rutter on a boat. Duh!

Dad showed me that warm bed too though we used smaller rocks and didn't bury them so deep. A warm sand mattress beats a waterbed any day.

Bear paw looks up from his bed.

love that part!

Riding my bike over to the mechanic to pick up my van, I spotted a piece of 3/8" round lying in the gutter, about 2 feet long.
Never would have seen it if I had been driving, but tossing it in the back would have been less awkward then carrying it on the bike.
Hahaaa the things we do.!...
can I borrow that round im 2 feet short on this project. The wine rack is eating up my stash at a record pace!!

Looks like you have been having fun in the forge. Good for you! Keep at it!
-
If it were me, id build a simple side draft and add at least one box fan.

I would love a 16 and 20 myself! Ive never seen a 20 but sure want two of them. One for work and one for the forge.

Only thing i accomplished today was acquiring a pretty bad gimp in my right leg when one of my guys was not paying attention to where he was aiming a large timber..... aint broke but it aint rite..not white anymore ether lol

Nothing in the shop today; but I did go by the local fleamarket and buy 35 used rusty farriers rasps for about 50 cents per. Then over to my parents house to help Mom write Dad's obituary.
Very sorry for your loss Thomas.

Thanks!!
I built a template, and it worked for the most part but i still made the walk more often than not. Had i included the window trim in my mock up it would have helped alot. Im a crappie carpenter lol
