  11. Hi Ken I use a metal stand now. I worked with Brian Brazeal for a year or so and made a few stands for him and myself. Between Brian and his brother Ed and me we believe any stand that is mounted to the earth and if anything was to move it would be the earth is the stand to have. I hope the picture helps and gives you some ideas

    one proud dad

this hammer was made by my son David and I. David being the striker at 10 years old
  14. Today my son David and I went to my work and he wanted to strike on a hammer, his 10 years old. I had wanted to make my boss a door knocker using a hammer so I thought that would be a good start for my son. We started with a piece of 1 1/4 round 2 1/2 long and the striking began. You could tell he was a little scared but he kept hitting and the strikes became better and better and then the eye was done. Then we started the cheeks and the striking was even better. Then the fullering and the strikes where even better with each blow my smile got bigger and bigger and then hammer was done. I was one proud dad.

  17. made 2 pairs of pick up tongs a 3" top and bottom fuller. I'm trying to use all the things I learned with Brian Brazeal for the last year.Since he left for his road trip its a little lonely at the forge but invited his brother Ed to strike for me saturday. We had a great time but it was different with out Brian telling us what to do and what size and lengths to use but we got it done.
