Thanks for the info guys. It definitely looks like a William Foster. Not bad for $40 barn find.

Just found this. The horn is broken. The only thing I can make out for sure is 1835 WV. Maybe the name william? It's right at 110lbs without the horn.

Will Willis, I just purchased an anvil yesterday in a barn find in Jonesboro, GA. The horn is broken off and I just saw your comment. I wish there was some way to know if it was broken during the civil war.
