  1. When my friend got married last winter I made a coat rack with some "house" symbolism to it. It was to wish them luck in their home together. -Svarttrost
  2. Hello folks! I've been lazy about posting for long enough so I thought I'll show ya all some pics of my work. First off with some candle holders. The one with brass finish is my own design, just made it yesterday. And the two other are design from the local smithy where I was working. All kinda comments&criticism are welcome. -Svarttrost
  3. Wow, that is one nice looking key. I've made few keys aswell but they weren't that decorative, they were going to actual use. After seeing that one maybe I'll have some new things in mind the next time some lock needs a mate :)
  4. I thought I'll go and post a picture of meself EDIT: Hope I got it right, being first timer
  5. Nice and solid looking welding there, good job.
  6. Wow, reading about all those misshaps surely got me thinking i've been lucky as hell having avoided getting injured thus far (aside from some minor burns from forge welding). You see i've been stupid enough to be quite careless regarding safety gear. But maybe this thread and all you whom have shared your experiences will eventually save me from losing something important, like fingers or sight, because after this I'll be wearing all my safety gear for sure. Thank you for the wake up call.
  7. Those blueprints was the first thing I looked up And I'll post pictures of my work soon.
  8. Greetings to all! I've been reading and watching IFI for a while now and decided to introduce myself. One fine website this is, I'm lovin' it:) So, as seen in the title I live in Finland and blacksmithing is (or will be) my trade, thus far I've studied couple of years in the local school of crafts and arts, and just now I spent our "learning in job" period of two months at the local smithy. Finally working with the real deal (smithing that is) really made my future clear, this is what I really want to do for living. EDIT: It now appears that my studies will continue at the mentioned smithy instead of school, this is a special arrangement made possible by hard work and xxxx I'm proud of it! To keep it nice and short: Hello.
