very cool copper roses are fun to make and yours look good.

thank you all. it was 6 -10' coils I made them by wrapping around a peice of 4" pipe then welding them all together. and it was done in about 7 hours lots of cold bending.

thanks I forge with propane and propane accessories nc forge . 1050 came from the steel yard I like to know what i'm working with.

Bill beta titanium makes a good blade there is a lot of ti blades for scuba divers. I have done 30+ dives with mine no rust and light but I have not tryed to resharpen yet.

I have a stand like that and put a 1/4" rubber sheet then chained it down to the baseplate easier than grinding on your anvil.

nice rose did you use three lobe or two and how thick was the stock.

the finish is bees wax I just stuck it in front of the forge door for a few minutes then smeared the wax on.

thanks I used 1/2 x3/4 stock for the center and 3/8 square stock and 1/2" pipe for the arms I'm a welder by trade so I miged it .

I use the red button on top (nc propane forge) :)

bring it up to 200, 250 pre heat weld with 70 s (tig) or 7018 (arc) and you should be fine. hope it helps

I use a hardie hole hold down 1"x1" stock bent past 90deg. one day I will forge the end nice but that's a lot of work.:)

I dont think many folks have good luck forge welding crome moly (I dont like to) but I have used cobalt 66 tig welded to axes and hardie edges makes a tough edge on mild steel. as for van.-stelite I dont know give it a try and let us know what happens.
