Check out Clay World (www.clayworld.com), which is in town. Last time I checked, they had at least three types of fire clay.

Thomas, you're right. The only other one I've seen is at http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=281416043300&alt=web and it has solid sides. With as little use as its gotten, I'm curious as to who would have done it or why unless it was to get long stock closer to the coals. I wish i could find documentation on it.

An antique store. It may end up in a museum shortly, but until they get back to me, i have it listed for sale @ $700.

Can anyone tell me about the history of the forge in the attached photos? Seems like a mysterious topic from what I've read thus far. Surely someone out there knows when this was made and for whom. Extra point for a link to documentation (tech manuals, etc). Thank you.
