  1. Even with missing part of a foot i was really happy with this one. Anvils in my area are starting to go for $4 or more per pound. I got this one for $2 per pound.
  2. I took a gamble on this one and drove straight there. Its a 90 pound fisher. The face and horn are in awesome shape. It does have one corner of the bottom "foot" broken off, but I dont think it will cause any problems.
  3. A guy 2 hours away offered to sell me this anvil. He doesn't know much about them. Can anyone tell if this is a good anvil or what brand it could be. TIA
  4. Im still pretty new to most of this and never considered a side blast. How does that work exactly? Do i just pipe my air into the side and build up my coal on it, or do i need to purchase fire bricks to build up around it? Thanks for the replys.
  5. I was given this today to try and refurbish into a new coal forge. Any suggestions? The "floor" of it is completely flat. Its all 1/4 steel and about 30 inches wide. Thanks for any help.
  6. Funny you mention Chattanooga. Im gonna be in soddy daisy this weekend. My family is from there. Im doing some work on my grand parents house. Im trying to get it all done this weekend, but I may have to take you up on that offer one day.
  7. Well, I ended up finding a 100 pound peter wright and just got it home. Its in great condition and has awesome rebound. Thanks bm454 for helping me find it.
  8. Today I went to a local antique mall to look at an anvil that someone told me about. I decided not to get it because it was in horrible shape and had been welded on several times. But, I did end up buying two 18 inch pieces of railroad track and it is a huge step up from my harbor freight aso. So im gonna use what I have now and keep practicing.
  9. Thanks for the welcome. I have always been interested in blacksmithing and finally started and now im hooked. Hopefully ill be able to find a better anvil soon. Here is a pic of my first knife forged out of a horseshoe. I hope to keep practicing and become as good as the people on this forum.
  10. Thanks for the replies and info. I think ill let this one pass and keep looking. I dont want to buy one and be disappointed in it later. Thanks for the quick replies. Jeremy
  11. Yes, it does say 150 on the back. Thats the only markings he can find. He claims in its in pretty good shape. Thanks for the info
  12. Hello everyone. I have just recently started blacksmithing with a harbor freight anvil and I think its time to upgrade. I found this anvil on craigslist locally for $300. He says its 150 pounds, but no other markings. Does anyone recognize this anvil and think its a good buy. I live in middle georgia and dont see alot of anvils for sale. Any info or help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jeremy.
