  1. My worst burn came from wearing tennis shoes while welding, I didnt know the piece was burning into my shoe until it was to late and if you could have caught me on camera running around trying to get my shoe off you might have won one of those funniest video contest. It burned the top of my foot BAD!!! Taught me a good lesson and it wont happen again!!! Be SAFE. Godbless,Charlie

  2. I really didnt know where to post this and I apologize for posting if and taking up space but it might just make a difference in someone life. Today is Thanksgiving and my family is small so we all usually get together quite often but this year Me and my wifes visiting one less house, My Fathers. My father and I was as good as friends as two people can be, he taught me everything I know about life and he was a great man. On July 22, 2004 I finally made time to spend with him, It seemed like I was always had something more important to do but that day I took him fishing. He and I had the best time and little did I know 3 days later he wouldnt be with us anymore, He was 45 years old and died the 25 of July, my birthday. I am thankful God gave me one last time to hang out with him and I am thankful for everything he taught me. Now if any of you guys are lucky enought to still have your Dad or Grandfather around tell them just how much you love them and give them a extra long hug, I wish everone a safe trip if your traveling and you will all be in mine and my familys prayers, Godbless and Happy Thanksgiving Charlie

  3. I feed my pitbulls raw meat and over time I have found out its extremely expensive!!! So I cut up ever deer I kill and process the meat myself for my dogs, in doing that I end up with alot of deer bones and yes they do make good handles. Now everyone has their own way of doing it, heres mine.. I take all the meat I can off the bone and put them into a big cast iron tub and boil them. I then put them up for awhile and wait on them to cure outside. I have bone that been outside for along time I still havent gotten to yet but I dont really have a certain time its ready. Usually around a couple of months, its just a guess. It also smells pretty rip if done in the summer. I hope this helps, If their is pasture land in your area get to know the owners and ask premission to look for old bones, thats a good source and usually its real old and cured. Good luck and Godbless hope I helped,CHarlie

  4. The anvil is a Hay Budden, funny story behind it. I purchased a Hay Budden from a guy that had it advertised in a newspaper in Montgomery. He owned a shop and used it to remove the bondo off of his spatula, what a waste. I got their and it was covered in bondo, paid 100.00 dollars and got home and cleaned her up but the top wasnt as nice as I wanted so I contacted a Blacksmithing friend that collects anvils and he had one EXACTLY like mine that was in beautiful condition and traded me even, both weighed the same and all!! By the way if you ever looking on here Matt THANKS A MILLION!!!!! Godbless you man, I really appreciate it! I really like the anvil and will have it until the end which I hope is far away,LOL It weighs 168 lbs

  5. I havent gotten my post vice set up yet but hopefully soon I will and get to twisting my handles before I start profiling the blade, Keykeeper thanks for the tip, I will definitely weld that up to my clippers, I cut a half inch off of each tip to hold the spikes and what you said would be perfect for the spikes, Thats what I love about this site everyone is always helping me out, THANKS!!! Godbless to all and have a great weekend, Charlie

  7. I am new to all of this and was hoping somone would lend me alittle knowledge about how people attach bolsters onto knives. I have seen many pictures of knives with horn for scales and then on top of it their would be brass bolsters and I thought it was beautiful, Thanks for the info and Godbless, Charlie Heres a pic of one like Im talking about

  8. My forge name is "louis and lady forge". Kind of along story but the year I was born 1979 my father won the Alabama state championship in coon hunting. He was 20 years old. I remember whaen I was real young asking him all the time about the hunt and his win, He told me when he got to Opp that night he saw people with 10,000.00 dollar coon dogs everywhere, big nice camper style trailors and when he pulled up in his beat up jeep with his and his dog ladys tent everyone laughed at him. Little did everyone know just who they where. Lady was a Grand night coon dog and my dad had spent most of his life in the woods at night. I remember him telling me he felt abit embarrassed not to have a big nice pull trailor and big expensive dog box like everyone elses but he knew he and lady had the "game as he would call it" to win. He told me he put up his tent that night and talked to Lady all night about the up coming day and prayed she wouldnt have her puppies during the hunt, The next night was their time to shine. He would always smile when he told me right before the hunt he bended down, looked lady in the face and said" lets show them what were made of", That night my Father and Lady tread 3 times the amount of everone else and he came home with a six foot trophy. During the trophy ceramony after he won he said no one laughed then and he was offered lots of money for Lady but kept her until she died and he never went hunting again. Now if I can have the drive in Blacksmithing that they did in hunting I will be able to learn and hopefully one day become great at it just as they did. My fathers name was Louis and his Champion coon dogs name was Lady. note to people if your fathers still alive get up first thing tomorrow and go see him, I would give everything in this world I have to spend one more day with him, we like most people had our differences but our time here is easily taken for granted. He passed away on my birthday 7-25-04 he was 45 years old, hate to sound like Im preaching but I wish someone had done it to me, Godbless to all CHarlie
