  1. This is a scrapyard find. There is no marking, the hole is straight wall I don't think it can be wedged, it is obviously very used. I did hit it with a hammer (lightly) on the side of the mushrooming and it seems soft. I wouldn't want to use it as a fuller if it is not.

  2. George thanks for the advice, never heard that till now.

Irondragon, it’s two wrenches but identical, I just got it to move still have to make a handle and the bars. It is same size on both ends (left and right) when adjusting. The top and bottom part have different incline on the threads so the top travels shorter distance when opening or closing.

Unfortunately no markings on the wrenches.

  3. I have a an old adjustable wrench, that I saved from the scrap yard, and it would not move. It has been sitting on my bench for more than a year, at least. I tried with just WD-40 for weeks, I tried heating it in the forge. So today I was cleaning the bench and just decided to cut the round bars that keep it straight and moving together. I really didn't want to do that but it was give up or cut. But that did the trick, I did have to heat it up in the forge more than once. I already have the same style wrench also saved from the scrap yard.

  4. New use for the valve. I have an unfinished chimney so I struggle with the smoke (until it heats up) and ash. And I've been thinking about putting a fan to blow the smoke out the shop. But since I'm dumping most of the air from the blower, got a temporary solution.

  5. Making a fire place shovel but one piece. Without a power hammer I wasn't even trying that. So decided to cheat. Two angle irons welded to a bar, I knew that cleaning it up was going to be a problem. But I gave it a try anyway. Not very pleased with it but it was worth a shot.

  6. There is a Ginko tree in my little town, we went for a walk today so I picked up some leaves. There are two styles of leaves, have no idea how to tackle the other style with just a hand hammer. That needs a lot of material to move by hand. This style not a problem.

  7. There is tradition like this in Bosnia as well. This year we were passing thru so we bought a traditional coffee pot made like this. I insisted that we buy from the craftsman making it and not from a tourist shop. Except the pot has a layer of tin or pewtr on the inside.

A lovely video and an exceptional channel, a wealth of old traditions preserved on it. Quite a few blacksmith videos. Thanks for the find.

  8. Some new stuff I found in a store here, the smith has a shop in the next town. So here is a shout-out the mister Leupold  [commercial link removed]

    Very interesting designs.

  9. Came across the same design in Třebíč also Czech Republic, towns are about 30 miles apart. Except the top and bottom holes are not punched in the same orientation, I could take a look at the back also but the picture is not focused from the back.
