Sweet thanks for the warm welcome guys and frosty ill be in Arizona in about 2 months maybe more. Harold I would love to meet you in person and see your shop and even learn a few more things that's the good thing about black smithing is you never run out of things to learn. Oh and Harold I don't know what a chambersburg utility is but his shop was pretty confined he had a 250 maybe 300 lbs trenton and a pink power hammer pretty awesome use of space though.

is there a door sort of thing on the side of your blower ? also did you clean out any clinkers or crap from the pipes? I don't know much about coal forges but just trying to help.

Hey guys, I know it says all Arizonans, but I couldn't help but join in on this conversation so, anyway greetings from Alaska. I have already talked to you, Harold, about the anvil thing and I decided to go ahead and do it. Anyway, I'll be moving to Arizona soon and was wondering if there's any good blacksmiths in Glendale or Peoria? Also, Harold I went to a knife shop out in Seward which is about 120 -150 miles out of Anchorage and he was making knives out of 50 cal gun barrels and even a friggin' cannon! A small aircraft cannon that is, but the place was pretty xxxx rural, I mean not another house, farm, or barn for at least 3 miles. But, anyway yeah, Harold and all the rest of Arizona guys, just wanted to introduce myself.

yeah if theres gonna be some risk I might just have frosty make me a bottom tool for the anvil that has square edges or use my nimba.

I think my favorite scene that involved smithing in a movie would be the Orc blacksmiths forging all the swords and armor in lord of the rings i just like how there was a pile of swords and armor that they had goin

80s music and some quiet riot, ac/dc, Boston, def leppard , kiss and well you get the idea

I don't mind a steel stand actually I prefer a steel stand but anyway seya then frosty

thanks Harold for the info but I think im gonna have to pass its too much of a risk and the story that goes along with the anvil isn't worth ruining. and yes frosty I do have a nimba its just that I don't have the space and a stand for it. on the other hand though I would love to come out with Tristan to see you frosty and make a bottom tool for the anvil and get schooled up on some skills thank you so much for the invitation.

hmmm its a tough decision for me to be honest. I mean I do need some sharp edge on the face near the horn of the anvil but to be honest you kinda made me worry when you said it could turn up worse then it is. but how bad would the hardness be affected? and what would the worst case scenario be?

hey guys im looking to get my anvil professionally repaired on the edges and was wondering what the cost of something like that is. im sure as hell not gonna do it myself so I was wondering if somebody in the group could do it or if you know anybody that could. and also if it would be cost effective to do it? my anvil is pretty old around 100 years or so and is 150 lbs with the Trenton brand name and serial number still on it. the face plat is solid no cracks, bowed in, broken horn , broken heel , etc  (looking to repair the edges that were abused by previous owner)

mines a 150# Trenton edges are useless so I use my nimba most of the time. and scruffy that's a nice lookin Trenton my serial number on mine is close to yours

ehh I guess if he says he needs anvils i got him covered otherwise well just wait till next meeting for the nimba

and take a hammer if it rings like a bell its good if it clanks don't bother

looks good and sharp but idk what is under the paint on the top of the face check if it has any repairs or if it has been welded at all and I think 275 is ok but try to take something lower

hey frosty its eric we did meet at the meeting that we had on the 20th. this sword though its really weird ive been searching for info on it but cant find anything. hehe ill guess ill just wait for somebody to get some info on it

hey guys im sort of new to iforge iron so bear with me. anyway I got this sword a while back and my grandpa says it was either a Austrian artillery mans sword from the 1800s or a forged sword by my great great grandpa either way I don't know for sure so I someone could help id it it would be awesome I will post pictures ater this post

I love my nimba and I paid a shitload for shipping well not that much since my gramma gold streamd it hehe but what im trying to say is its worth every penny even though I have a 150# Trenton I still find myself using a nimba

You might wanna consider a nimba if your desperate.
