  1. Thank you Mr. Larson. I appreciate your willingness to share your expertise.
  2. John Wayne Taylor Phone: 334-514-2254 Location: Wetumpka Alabama This guy is a friend of Clay Spencer and he makes and sells a lot Tire Hammer components to Clay's specs. He gave me the prices and they seem very reasonable. the drive wheel is $40, the spring is $30, the arms are about $140, and the lead weight is around $7. I plan to buy these from him because he uses the same jigs as Clay Spencer so I know the parts will be better than my own products.
  3. You're welcome Tim. I always have a lot of questions and it's nice to know that I'm not bothering everyone. Take care

  13. Use solid steel if possible. The plans for the Rusty hammer are for on the web.
  14. Who has an opinion on what to use as treadle hammer slide bearings. I've UHMW on a tire hammer and liked it. I trying to decide on the in-line skate wheels that Clay Spencer uses or the UHMW. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks
  15. Hey guys. I can't remember where, but someone wrote that John Larson reccomends shuttle and pilot valves now for air hammers. I would like someone to explain to me how this works. I have the kinyon plans but don't know which parts will be replaced by the Shuttle and/or pilot. Thanks
  16. I tried one out recently and liked it. As mentioned before, it's a single blow hammer not a power hammer. It has a strikes a strong blow and has a really tall stroke. The price is nice as well. That being said, you have to step down on the throttle for every hit. Go to their website and watch the demo videos.
  17. I'm wanting to try making some S Hooks for hanging curtains. Can anyone offer some advice on how much material they start with? I just want to hear how others do it before I start. Thanks

  19. If you care about noise, use the tube and fill it with sand. That really quiets down a hammer.
  20. Does anyone have advice on where to an instruction book or online tutorial for wiring electric motors? I have a 5 hp 3450 motor from Tractor Supply and need a parts list for the starter as well as a little how-to. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  21. Get in touch with the Blacksmith Supply. The Euroanvil is great. Those guys at Oak Hill Iron/Big Blu use them. If Euroanvils are good enough for for them, they're good enough for anyone. I guess there's not the bragging rights you would get with the more expensive anvils because Nimba, RatHole, Tom Clarks, etc. are given more TLC before you get them. As someone said earlier, you have to finish it to your liking. So, if your like me and respect the more expensive anvils but don't have and/or want to spend the money, buy the Euro. Great anvil, unbeatable price.
