Sorry to hear that Feukair, you had a lot of time in that blade and it showed.
What did you quench in and what temp. was it.? -

The fish and sea weed really hits the spot, the sense of movement is immediate.
I like the bird of Paradise also, complex, holds your interest, the fish is so simple, you really captured the feeling. -
If you grind and overheat after you have tempered your blade you ruin the heat treat or hardness.
I think that's right. Others with much more knowledge will chime in and set me straight.
Welcome and let us know where you are located. -
Could you snap a pic? Your description sounds good but hard to visualize.
Congratulations on the commission. -

Truly generous of Mike to spend time teaching, I'm sure a tour of his shop would be an education in its self let alone hands on.
I promise to post all the details. -
Mike
Thanks for the offer, I'll take you up on it. There's a house in the "Y" I'm doing for the same people you did the railing for that has to finish in the next month or so.
I'll send a PM. and thanks again this will help me tremendously. -
I wanted to make knives. Started collecting tools, got a coal forge, anvil tongs etc., did some ornamental stuff, built some gates, but just never made the time, now 30yrs. later i"m making time and trying to make a knife with your help.
Thanks -
Could you describe what a "sen" is -does
Thanks Mark -
I see I need to slow down. Learn to forge flat and straight, then concentrate on the bevels.
Being comfortable with what you're doing is a big key here. -
No wonder it took so long to build. LOL
That's a great idea, i really like the, ducting part and the fact that it's in a grid, pretty smart. Thanks for the great explanation.
