  1. My other hobby is building Mauser Sport Rifles. When I remove the old military barrels, they cant be used for much. I decided to make a 8MM Mauser Barrel Knife. I guess I have too much time on my hands. I figured that I would post it before I throw it on an auction.
  2. Still working on my first Tomahawk made from a Railroad Spike. Thought I would share a couple pics of my progress. Planning on doing some burning on the haft, not sure of what yet. Anyway, here they are.
  3. Hi Guys, I made my first kitchen knife for my wife. Now I can go out in the shop anytime I want. Actually my first knife with a handle.
  4. Good Job, Nice even twists. Grandma will like it.
  5. Hey thanks guys for your input, I apprieciate your thoughts.
  6. Hi guys, I want to mount one of my iron snakes onto a rock specimen. Any ideas as to how I could mount the snake for a strong bond that wouldn't look crappy and break off ? Thanks in advance .
  7. Hi Pete, After I hammered it, I roughed it with the grinder, I used a red then green twist lok on the air grinder to smooth it out. I then worked up to 600 grit wet & dry paper. Thats it.
  8. My first spike knife. Started hammering it into a bowie but it ended up being a Bowie/Skinner. Funny when you have no idea what you are doing and the project kinda goes it's own direction. Anyway it was a lot of fun.
  9. Full Metal Jacket SoundTrack. Cant get enough of "Surfin - Bird "
  10. For a simple forge, look at MBROTHERS just posted of a vid of a guy using an old BBQ Grill for a forge. (Knife Making Video) very cool.
  11. Very Cool ! Thanks for posting the vid.
  12. Johannes, It really is not that heavy, probably about 3 lbs. I gave it to the old gent and he seems to have no problems walking with it. Not sure about the balance other than that he keeps his balance while using it. He does spit alot of tobacco juice and it will be nice to see what patina it has on it in about a year.
  13. Good luck there Chuck. You are right, every time you strike the iron, you are self teaching. I found that it it is like brain therapy, it keeps the marbles moving.
  14. Thanks for the nice comments guys. To answer your questions, FAT PETE, I am not a member yet but would like to join. I keep checking their site but it seems to be still under construction. DALE PETERS, the whole thing is made from 1/2 solid round. I made it for a farmer who is in his 80's I figured that he could use the head part to pull himself up to get going. I will probably wrap the hand part in some string leather to soften it up a bit on his paws.
  15. Nice twists and sculpture like TBFORGE.
  16. Made this for and old Friend
  17. !/2 Round beat into a Snake Stick
  18. Hi folks, just fooling around today and made this Snake Stick today for and old friend. While I don't usually associate with the live critters, I do enjoy making them.
