  1. Really nice looking knife!! It looks like a great size for a working knife to me. Thanks for sharing the pics.
  2. "Ahhhh... I see the light now, Master." said grasshoppah Thanks for the explainations. Really cool how the blades can come out with this treatment!
  3. Feukair... great looking blade! To back up a little is the clay/wire wrap creating the hamon lines? What type of wire is used? Is the clay thicker or thinner where you want to accent the lines?
  4. Thanks for the tips... EllisCustomKnives looks like a pretty good site for products and info.
  5. I have a Grizzly 2"x72" grinder. I've noticed that the graphite covering on the platten is wearing uneven, especially around the tool rest area. Any recommendations on a better platten "slip pad" ? I read something about plate glass being used? By the way, I'm new here and have to say this site is a genuine "candy store" of information!
  6. Howdy to all... I'm John. I'm from Waitsburg, down in the lower right corner of Washington... I'm an apprentice knife maker and a beginner at forge work. My mentor is J.L. Stewart of "Hot Damn Forge" located near Port Townsend, WA. I'm lucky enough to have put together a work area with a propane powered forge, a decent 115lb anvil, a leg vise, a Grizzly belt grinder, some hand tools and a big pile of "desire"... Being the babe-in-the-woods that I am, I'm really looking forward to learning the basics and hopefully more from this site and you all...
