GLK, Thank you You nearly quoted my old college instructor. It takes a lot of practice to know when something is right. If people don't use the guidelines they put everyone at risk. And knowing how to use those guides is part of experiance.

I wasn/t ready yet either. I've got a notebook running networked to my PC so that I can work it from my recliner. I've got my demo table set up in front of me so I can see to use it.

Really Nice work. It's a shame the public doesn't realize the amount of time involved in finishing.

I wasn't thinking about a small cylinder, that's right it won't last long at high pressure. I'm used to big tanks with lots of spares.
Travis -
I forgot to tell. Don't forget to turn it back down. It's a huge waste on normal cutting.

A trick an old welder freind taught us. Leave the acet. pressure where it normaly is, Turn your oxy. up to about 80 and with a clean tip it will work. Once you start the cut the extra pressure will keep the heat going down the cut. Take it slow.

Phil, You can be proud. I know a lot of grown men that claim to know what their doing that can't do that good.

Mine is a peice of Ibeam with a peice of platewelded on with the walls of the I beam sticking up so it's like a box to hold tools. Two legs on the back and a peic of 4" tubing upright with a plare on the botom and a plate ontop for the vice bracket. You can easily put an axel on the back legs.

You both are in our prayers.

I agree with Gerald usually the welder outlast the weldor. Most welders are heavy enough that it's hard to hit the duty cycle. The little low amp ones are only desighned to do small projects. I have seen a 300 amp welder cut out but it was pushing a mig gun at 250 amps with a yung man holding the gun.

I think your desighn is fine. Not having any experience, I wouldn't recomend welding it your self. I don't think your mig is heavy enough. I've welded large projects with a mig, but I had wire desighned to do the job and a machine large enough to handle the load. Why not look around and find an experienced welder and make a trade of work for work. You might even pick up another forging freind. I was always told "You can't beat a man at his own game"
Just suggestions

If your lineris shot try to replace it with a vinyl lined one like you would use for aluminum or stainless. They don't kink like the all wire ones, and last alot longer. We learned the hard way.

Larry, Keep an eye on your lead. Sometimes it can kink like a water hose. Expecially if you are stretching to get that last little bit befor you reposition.
