  1. Did a "Buy It Now" on Ebay for a forged Hofi hammer and DVD. Last year's and next year's birthday present.

  2. Mike,
As I just msg'd to Peyton,I rarely got to attend guild meetings, but I really enjoyed his numerous upbeat emails, the terrific job you guys did with the website, and even the live webcam meetings. I'm truly sorry to see BGoVA come to an end. I'm sure it must be very hard for you as you've put so much into it. Blacksmithing in Virginia is better because of all you...

  3. Chris,
Yes, ODBSA does have a library, and a pretty good one at that. It still works on the honor system. We have a Librarian who is officially in charge of maintaining it. He keeps a logbook where members sign out the book(s)they are interested in. They are to return them within 3 months. I don't think we've ever had a problem with theft. I'll check with Wendell and let yo...

  9. Welcome to IFI and Virginia. You are in luck, Christian. Blacksmithing is strong and growing in Virginia. There are a number of groups in the state, but they are spread out quite a bit. That means that there is some travel involved. Do you have your own transportation or someone to drive you? SW Va is a large area. What town did you move to? That will make a difference on which group.

  10. Happy birthday, Phil.
I had no idea you were so young! Your comments in the forum seemed so much more mature and experienced. Keep posting.

  12. Just set up a new facebook page for ODBSA. Sure wish I knew what I was doing.

  13. This weekend is Fall Break for both of the boys. They're coming home for a long weekend at the same time. How great is that!?

  14. David, Great pics on the site today. I thought you'd hung up your cross-pein or been abducted by aliens. How are you?

  15. Heading to Long Island, VA in the morning to see Billy Phelps demo at Bobby Floyd's Buttercup Plantation Forge. Expecting a really good turnout from ODBSA. If the rain holds off it's going to be an awesome day. Heck, it'll be great even if it does rain.

  16. The boys wanted to have a "forging day" before going off to college. So we spent all Sunday in the backyard having fun, except for the 1/2 hour it rained (and reminded us to stop and eat lunch). Great day!

  17. Hello from Lynchburg, VA. I grew up in Scarborough and haven't lived in Maine since '81. I am just beginning to learn blacksmithing. Are you a hobbyist, or are you trying to become a professional blacksmith? I miss Maine.
