  1. so my first pair of tongs work ok but they took forever to make(and I over did it and hurt my elbow), so on this set I did things differently (work smarter not harder). first I hopped on AutoCad and designed my tong blank so I know where to drill and cut the all the blanks so they are close to the same. then I printed it out and made a couple patterns out of some wood. drilled all the rivet hols and then took the 14 pcs to school and cut them out with their torch. Then i had 14 blanks ready for 7 pairs of tongs. so enough gabbing and here is a pic of my firs pair using this method:)

  2. ya flux spoon, it would also be cool to hang it by the stove for a tasting spoon when im cooking.

So after I shut down the forge and stuff then came back in the house the wife starts putting nails in the wall to hang some aprons. So I told her to give me an hour and went back out to the shop and made her some hooks to hang it on:)

  4. well the torch was stolen today along with $90 worth of steel and my welding helmet and gloves, the rest of my tools and stuff where at my new house so that's good, but when i went to cut up my long pcs of steel and get the rest over to the new place everything was gone, mabby the police will find it, but i doubt it my luck isn't very good. im glad my anvil wasnt there its the only one i have seen for sale in my area in 8 months

  5. im interested do you have a blue print you are following?

no blue print, it's 12 in. square on top, and 6 in. square on the bottom, and 6 in. tall. The tuyere sticks 1-1/2 in. above the bottom so I dont have to worry about clinkers.
    Here's a finished pic.
