I'll use all but one of the hammer heads. 3 of them are Atha, ones a Hinnard or Hubbard, and the others are various brands, no chinese. A few of them are hand forged, and they'll be reground, and tempered for my uses

I paid scrap for steel, for $10 and finding another local maker I don't care if I got burned.

I have 2 vices with the sting-ray shaped mounting plate, one has a turned screw box, the other has a very distinctive screw box, and screw handle

Theres no sash windows in my house, nor any of my neighbors.

I didn't even think of that! Or maybe make it the weight for my big tool box lid that has a problem with breaking fingers

I plan on making a stake out of atleast 2, I may donate them to the ag shop for some odd use. I'm gonna try to forge one, jus to try it

Today I helped an old timer clean off some of his old burned down barn. Got a burned post vice, (seized then, now usable gotta make a spring), 10 hammer heads, (need to be grinded down), and various other steel bits and peices, a jack hammer bit, old chisels and 2 pairs of tongs. Set me back $7.00. I'm a happy boy for now, I found another pickers paradise (18 acres of accumulation from100+ years of makers), gotta either build a bigger shop or rent one... I think the blacksmithin' bug got me and won't let go

They're round and weight about 71/2 lbs apeice. Most of them are Christopher brand cast iron

Are these still made? I'm looking to find a fire pot to build a forge. What do these cost currently?

Alright, I live in a major cat-fishin town, I have a use for abnout 5 of them. I only paid scarp for them. If all else, I'll put em' on ebay

Bought about 100lbs of window weights earlier. What are their uses in forging? I intend to make one into some sort of rounding jig. They weigh about 5 lbs each. What can I use them for?

So I need the cross head, and the pittman pin in order to adjust the height inbetween my dies?

Alright, so the cross head, and crank pin are what I need to be able to adjust the hit-height?

Today must of been vice day. I've worked on 4 vices today. From a 6 inch swivel needing cleaning, to my 4 3/4 post-legs new springy-spring

Everything on the shafts fine, I may think about replacing the babbott in a few years, is got 1 riser in it at the moment, and my clutch spider (the thing that pushes the assemble forwards to engage the main pulley) is made of brass? What sthe little T thing that attatches to the crank pin on the front? (What you adjust the height with) I'm gonna order one of those so I can adjust my hit heaight, then as I progress along, I'll worry about the ram.

I think I'll order up a few books, Sids class is outa the question until I make of $2,000 forging, and selling stuff.

Can somebody post, or create a diagram of a Little Giant? THe one I found on Sid's website, has just the peices layed out, numbered, I need to know what goes where on the machine? Any helps appreciated

I can get coal cheaper that propane, I'd have to get 2,000lbs to get it cheap, but its metalutgical coal. The teacher said for me to draw up some plans, and we'd figure this thing out.

I may be a newbie at this trade, but I can play the trumpet. The thing I'd dois get a peice ofsomething around 3/4 inch thick wall, heat one end, put it on say.... The anvil horn, or if you have a swage cone, use it to stretch it out like a french horn mouthpeice. Then get after the edges with a peice of wet-dry sand paper, with a leather backing to get into the edges?

Concrete removal (the fun way), get a 1/2 cement bit, drill into the concrete a ways, shove favorite firecracker into hole, light with wick ,run. It may take several tries to move a little, but its the fun way

I was looking inot it as an option. I'm doodling up some designs for a homeade forge. I'm thinking 32 X 48, with a 4 inch lip around the edge, fire pot, and tuyere. Should I go with an electric intake blower, or a hand crank? Or go find a true electric forge blower?
