I will be using a hand crank blower, I hope. My old machine shop teacher at the local community college has offered to help and kick in his old blower. I just want to make sure we are going in the direction.

That is what I was thinking about until I showed it to my old machineshop teacher and he got all excited.

I have a large brake drum that has a inside dia of 16.5" and is 11" deep. I want to cut it down so it is not so deep. Any suggestions on what is a good depth. Thanks Dale

New to the site. Just got turned on to it by a friend of mine. I was a machinist for many years before leaving that profession to fullfill a lifelong dream of firefighting. Looking forward to the world of blacksmithing. Dale
