  1. Where are these machines located? A more detailed list would also be good. welder19
  2. I got it!! Thanks guys you were dead on with the hidden screw, I don't know if I would have ever found it with out your advice. I had drilled out the 2 screws in the top that hold the top on, because the heads were all but rusted away, well all I did was drill what was remaining of the heads, so what was left of the screws was not letting the housing slide back, so I drilled them down and tapped on the front of it a few times and it came off:D Took it to work and beadblasted all the parts and cleaned it out real good. Hopefully put it back together tomorrow after work. Thanks again for the advice, I'll post some pics when I get'er crankin again. welder19
  3. I am really sorry to hear that alot of you have lost a friend, if it was a really close friend, it will leave a hole that will not likely ever be filled, I know cause I have one of those holes, and would not wish that pain on anyone. It sounds like I have really missed out, not knowing this man. If I may, what happened to him, you mention welding galvanized metal, I know of people who have gotten sick from it but have never heard of someone dying of it. I have had some, (very little) exposure to it. welder19
  4. So what your saying is that in the 1st pic, where I am pointing, there is a bolt on the inside? The housing needs to slide back to seperate them? That makes sense, the way it feels I figured it had to be something like that, however I did try that, but I will try harder now knowing that is what is holding it. Any other ideas or suggestions are always welcome. I will post any success or failures I have with it. Thanks! welder19
  5. Trying again with the pics Success!!

  7. That's pretty strange, I just posted a question about this same exact(I think) blower. Is it the gear or the shaft? Or are they one piece? Maybe you could true it up in a lathe? If you have one, if not maybe you know someone who does. I wouldn't know cause I can't get mine apart, which is why I posted. How does the case split? I don't want to crack it but I can't get it apart, I had to drill out the 2 screws that hold it together, the eng with the screws moves some it's the other end that doesn't. Is there something on the inside that holds it? May be you could take a look at the one you have that is a part and let me know what it looks like, maybe take a couple pic's, I would really appreciate it. You can post in this thread or the one I wrote, which ever you prefer. If I can get mine apart I may be able to give you more advice on your problem, I have done a lot of machineing on stuff like that. welder19
  8. Hi everybody, I am having some trouble and hope maybe someone has seen one of these before. I found this blower at the junk yard, it has been sitting out side for a long time but it still turns, hard but it turns. It needs cleaned and gone over, the blades need some work, and it needs a new handle. I got it mostly a part but I can't get the case apart, I've tryed everything but it won't come apart and I am afraid of cracking the case. If anyone has any ideas or have been in this predicament before, I could really use some help. This is all the writing on it; Champion Blower & Forge Co. Lancaster Pa. Advice

If you think before you do, you'll never get anything done, but if you do and then think about it, you'll always know what doesn't work. welder19
  10. Looks good, that's real similar to how I did mine, with the wheel, but I used a bigger table, just because I found it getting thrown out at work and just couldn't see it going to the scrapyard just because it was no longer needed, plus it was free. Mine works good, hope your's does too. Good luck welder19

  12. Hello, other than introduceing myself this is my first post, just figured I'd add to what was said about the breke drums, I made mine out of a 16" wheel and it also works really good. Another good refractory is just fire clay and sand. welder19
  13. Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself, I am not really new to blacksmithing, but I am not very good either, I have done a little here and there over the years but just what I needed at the time, I never really pursued it as an art or a hobby until recently. I don't have much, 2 anvils an 80lb and a 225lb, both are pretty old and ragged but have always done what I needed but I am going to try and find one in a little better shape now that I want to get serious about it, some hammers, and tongs. My forge is home made, I use mostly homemade charcoal and some coal when I have it. I also do a lot of metalcasting, mostly alum. and some brass. I am really looking forward to learning more and getting better, that's why I joined here so I can learn and hopfully get some advice when I get stumped, also looking forward to being involved as none of my friends are into it, so it will be nice to talk to people who are. welder19
