I really love Charleston. I met the woman of my dreams there 31 years ago and I still look at her every day. I can remember taking walks in down town Charleston and admiring the iron work. I did the same thing when I took her to Paris a couple of years ago.

Thank you for a reply. You have answered a few of my questions. Nice press, it is what started me on a press of my own.

you might be a blacksmith if yu have not meet a piece of steel that you didn't lke and want to take home. I have pile of steel that most people think of as rusted scrap and I just see another project in the works.

I made it a point to get to know property managers for commerical properties. When a tenant leaves they call me up to clean out a place. I have picked up all kinds of tools, steel and benches.

Went to a sale today of blacksmithing stuff and a truck load of tool steel followed me home. The interesting stuff was beond my pocket book. The gent was selling a real nice 465# Habberman anvil, welder plasma cutter, 6 leg vises, beverly shear, a Kinyon air hammer, cone mandral, two coal forges and a room of mis. stuff. To have money would have been nice.

Is this pure cobalt or a cobalt alloy?
It is 1/2" round stock for high speed motors. The gent that I obtain them from use to make such motors. It came in 3 to 4' lengths. Prior to any serious work with it I will have it tested for specs. -
Can it also be pattern with steel?

I was able to obtain some colbalt round stock tonight and wanted to know if it can be forged. Thanks

I found this site a little while ago and love it. Great articles and great people. I finished a mechanical hammer last summer and am working on a propane forge as we chat, need to order some hardner. Next on my list is a belt sander and I have started to obtain the necessary material for a hydraulic forgeing press. I have a small problem of liking to build stuff. Any way I am chatting to much and looking forward to meeting and talking to the people on the board.
