  3. hey, you wrote about my hay-budden. the bottom is wrought iron? i had always thought that it was cast iron.thats neat. I have recently aquired a 80 lb peter wright. is the face wrought iron too???

  4. hey mr.powers, do you know anything about hay buddens and the markings on them? thanks willie

  5. where is the cerial number located at?

  6. it is confirmed that my anvil is a hay- budden. not bad for free. dads friend is an auctioneer, and they had a bunch of blacksmithing equipment for auction, and he got me a funky pair of tongs, some real big flat bit tongs some big round bit tongs. he also picked up a slag chipping hammer and a kinda crowbar. all in all cost me 35 dollars. not too shabby.

  7. i found an anvil that looks exactly like mine. its pretty cool, because i think that i have an excellent anvil. the best ring that youve ever heard. not much wear to it.just from where a farrier used the spot near the table on the face.my anvil rusts BAD though. the pic isnt my anvil but an exact clone.

  8. i think tht i have a hay- budden anvil. how do you tell the brand and weight if there are no markings that you can see?its about a 175-200 lb anvil. i can lift it by myself but im kinda strong for my size and age. hay will do that to ya is what grandpa says.lol. not tryin to be cocky. beatiful anvil with a great ring to it.

  9. been playin round with rail road spike knives till i get some more stock.is a dollar a foot a good price? send me a message if your from w.v also.
