blafen
Looks a lot nicer than mine. How much does it weigh?
NashvilleChris
100 lbs...and u can tell by the 10 on the anvil 10=100, 20=200 and so on..at least that's what i read when i read up on the anvil, but i could be wrong. i placed it on a scale and it read 107lbs. tech413
Looks good, kinda like mine. Mine is a 160lb, the only problem I have with it is the face is a little soft, but a good anvil otherwise! Way to go!
jhbruce4
what does the other number "39" mean?
NashvilleChris
from what i read...the 39 is a "serial" unique number assigned for identification which varies...if there is not a serial number on the anvil than it could be a factory reject. jhbruce4
if there is a serial number can it be dated?
NashvilleChris
have not found a date for the anvil, but if anyone could help that would be great!
Ferrous Beuler
I hate it when I'm doing something like that, walking around a freind's farm enjoying a nice day and then, wham! trip over something like that just indescriminantly left laying around where somebody could get hurt on it. Some people, geesh!
NashvilleChris
i was there at my buddies farm looking for that anvil that day. He said he remembered seeing an anvil as a kid growing up. So there was no tripping ;)
Sabre
my vulcan says 10 but on a scale its 108.... not shure why, anyone know?
Fins/413
Chris, How did you clean it up? Nice anvil.
Bentiron1946
That is absolutely the best Vulcan I have ever seen. Most of them have huge chips out of the hard face and just look awful. It will help prevent chipping if you ease a small radius on the edge of the hard face with a grinder, not a big ole radius just a wee tiny one. May you have joy with that anivl!:D
Jack Evers
my vulcan says 10 but on a scale its 108.... not shure why, anyone know? See post #3, The 10 means 100, etc. All that I've seen actually weighed were about 10% heavier. A casting will vary in weight so they apparently erred on the high side, Mine is marked 25 and on the scales went about 280.
