February 7, 200917 yr I have been trying to forge a decent horse head, and came up with these two different styles, based on Hugh MacDonald's flat horse head, and part of an article from Anvil Magazine, on Brian Brazeal's horse heads. Brian does an awesome horse head, 2"square stock, an 8# hammer and 20 minutes, he squirts the material fast enough it is really hard to follow just what he did ;-) I have seen the demo probably 3 or 4 times, and still don't know how he does it exactly. But I hear that he is selling a DVD of the process... Brian is an awesome smith. Here are what I have been experimenting with;-) the wider ones are 3/16 x 1 1/2, and the thicker one that looks like the Bronco's logo is 1/2 x3/4 Edited February 7, 200917 yr by Fionnbharr (finn:-)
February 7, 200917 yr well now Finnr, I gottsa say, that's one I've never tried, got one in iron in the hat one time, the guy folded the mane over, looks a lot like yours, I like em!! well done.
February 7, 200917 yr Those are pretty darned nice though I like the dogs better. I've only done horse heads a couple times and they didn't turn out as nice. Thanks again, Frosty
