craig Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 (edited) Here's a nail header I made out of a small flat bar I found in a field...and a couple nails I made to test it out. Edited February 5, 2009 by craig Added picture Quote
solvarr Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 I like it it's a quick and easy style You can use the handle as a bolster for punching too Quote
craig Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 True, I just use the hole to hang it by...I have access to a lot of farm junk, so there's a lot of small, broken, only slightly useful bits of bar with holes in them I can use for punching without defacing my beautiful top-notch nail header ;) Quote
tech413 Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Nice, did you drill the hole and file square, or was it already like that? Quote
craig Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 I used a square tapered punch made from a spring. Quote
tech413 Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Yeah, guess that would be easier than a file:rolleyes: never thought of that. LOL Quote
craig Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 Yeah, it's a pretty small hole, I suppose a square needle file would fit, but it would be slow...The punch worked well since you can use it from the other side afterwards to make the slight taper that holds the nail. Quote
