nts Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Hey guys, I have seen a lot of posts about the blowers, and I was wondering what i should look for to have a chance of finding a hand crank blower (i.e. garage sales, flea markets, etc.). thanks, NTS Quote
DKForge Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 All of the above including Craigslist.com and EBay. There is a guy in Allentown that was selling a bunch of anvils recently on Craigslist, he might be someone who would know where you could find a blower. Also check local blacksmiths guilds. I know PA has one just don't remember their URL do a Google search. Quote
Rob Browne Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 If you have any friends in rural areas put the word out on the grape vine. Its amazing how things turn up that way, I got a post vice, blower and anvil that way. Can take a while though and you need to keep prompting. Cheers Quote

nts Posted January 6, 2009 Author Posted January 6, 2009 here is a picture of the "anvil" i have been using. It weighs in at a skimpy 20 pounds, but it's all i have to pound on for now. Sorry bout the picture quality, it was taken on my cell phone. Any ideas for how to improve this until i can get a real anvil? Quote
Flaming S Forge Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Don't forget to check out any weekly auctions in your area. I recently lucked out and got a post vise for $15.00. It took a few years to find one in a reasonable price range. Where exactly are you located in Eastern Pa? Maybe you are not too far from me. Quote
Flaming S Forge Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 I'm in Schuylkill County. Not exactly a next door neighbor. You are welcome to stop by anytime if you like. Quote
