ON this site there is a list of scrapyard steels and what they may be made of use those two lists to see what you can find for you project. Not all leaf springs are 5160, neither are all sawblades L6, nor are all chisel S7. Like richale said do a little bit of searching and find the junkyard steels list to get a better idea.
