Sabre Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Can you use galvy chimney pipe for a forge side draft hood? Thats all homedepot has and its even in 12 inch Quote
orgtwister Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 i have used it before with no problems as for a side draft i have never used it for that the galvinized is not that thick on the mine rusted out after a few years and as long as chimney is flowing air it shouldn't get hot enough to burn the galv. off Quote
Sabre Posted October 12, 2008 Author Posted October 12, 2008 I think i may be a bit lucky because when i dident know much bout galvy u put a piece of it above my forge and all the galvy burned off but i never got sick.. Pic attachedforge 4 - Blacksmith Photo Gallery Quote
orgtwister Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 i see what you mean sabre i had my pipe conected to a hood over the old forge i made many years ago so the hood may have took most of the heat and that was made out of a old tank that was steel that i painted with stove paint Quote
