I am very interested in Blacksmithing and wanting to learn the basics.
A new hobby that I can learn and make things.
My first project will be makeing my own homemade forge made out of a stainless steel Head appx 12-20''dia 6-8" deep ( the top of a small s/steel tank) scraped at work and a steel ring under it to run the tube for the blower with legs. Then to get an anvil I have a railroad rail already made in to one then to make tongs and a hardy.

Sounds like you have a good starting plan. Now its practice, practice, practice.

BTW welcome to IFI :)

On the front or 'home' page of this site there are sections named Getting Started' and 'Lessons in Metalworking.
There's a lot of good information there.......Enjoy!

Welcome to IFI. You will find a lot of information and some of the most helpful folks you will even have the good fortune to have contact with.

I have been tinkering with metal for some time. I started blacksmithing just recently and hope to get a leg up on it from the nice folks here!
