A Visit to the Armorer’s Shop at the Metropolitan Museum of Art

Some cool tools and even cooler history.

Neat stuff. I've heard it said for anvils, we don't own them, we're just their caretakers.

Interesting to see tools we recognize immediately.  The tool with the hole in the head may be some sort of set or monkey tool, IMO, rather than a striking hammer.  If you go to the video on you tube there are a lot of interesting comments that you don't see on the link.  A lot of armoring tools, particularly the hammers, are similar to auto body tools.

Thanks for posting.

Interestingly, the Met used to have some of their medieval French woodwork displayed as if it were the walls of an armorer’s shop:

Nice post! I’ve also visited the Metropolitan Museum and really enjoyed seeing the armorer’s shop. It was fascinating to see the tools and craftsmanship up close. I also used a digital membership card, which saved me a lot of time and gave me more time to focus on my other plans.
