I Forge Iron

New Addiction.

It seems as though I have developed another addiction. It all started with a a camper and then I decided to cook the primary meal each day using cast iron cookware. I only had a #10 camp oven given to me about 30 years ago by an army buddy. Now I have the preverbial ton of cast iron.

A couple of months ago when looking for CI cookware, I found a rusty old anvil. After consulting with an aspiring blacksmith about it's value, I bought it. It has been identified as a Haye-Budden farriers anvil.

With the help(mostly on his part) of a blacksmith/machinist neighbor, I now have a forge and am having fun trying to create useful items. And since I am associated with a living history group focusing on the 1840 time frame, I am trying to produce items that would be appropriate to that period.

I am looking forward to learning much from this forum.
