Prancing Bull
Hello all, I have recently been trying to source a castable refractory for a gas forge Im building. I've been in contact with a local Forge who are offering to sell me some Versaflow 45+, and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this product as I haven't been able to find any posts about it here or on any other forums. I'm a little concerned because it appears to be rated at 2800°F, whereas most refractories I see used (KastOlite 30 Mizzou ect..) Are rated at 3000°f Here is the datasheet I was provided: http://static.premiersite.co.uk/37710/docs/1720917_1.pdf Mod note: the above link connects to material data, not commercial content. It is therefore judged to be acceptable under the TOS.
JHCC
Considering that steel melts between 2500°F and 2750° (depending on carbon content), you're probably okay as far as temperature goes..
