Archie Zietman
Hello. I remember there used to be a blueprint with tongs that looked like these. What are they called, and must I make separate tongs from square, round, and flat stock? (the lower jaw indented, and the triangle fiddled with?) or can I use them for all three? thanks eversomuch, Archie
jeremy k
This is a set I made - Close-up view of the working end of the tongs - they have a grip range on rounds of 3/8" - 5/8" and also hold squares and tapered stock. Blueprint number 303 I believe - I just called them swivel universal link tongs. Edited July 23, 2008 by jeremy k
Archie Zietman
Do they only work for straight stuff, or would it be possible to adapt them for holding hooks'n stuff?
son_of_bluegrass
Archie If you really are a blacksmith you'll find a way to adapt them to whatever you need them to do. I don't know how many time I've modified some tool. It is now to the point I don't go looking for a tool or whatever I need; I look for raw materials or a tool I can modify to what I need. ron
