Adding a spin vane

Featured Replies

I have a primarily vegetable oil furnace with a diesel start.  Has anybody added a spin vane with good results?  I want to add a helical Air turbulence chamber to my burn tube.

Thank you Glen for, The personal message, that you moved this to a more appropriate forum.

Maybe very few here spin their air?

Very few folks here use oil burners; they seem to be a bit more common with foundry folks as I recall. (Anything over at alloyavenue.com on them?)  You will add some depth to the knowledge base here!

I'm interested in what you find out.  Producing a viable oil burning forge has been quite a challenge.

I've seen several in industrial settings, including one that is now a museum in Lauf ADP Germany that was still in use for demonstrations when I visited 20 something years ago; but they tend towards the large size compared to most home forges.

I have a small foundry that has a 4 1/2 exhaust port.   The magic will start inside the brick bace. The flames will be entering the bottom of the forge.   It will be designed just like a big oil furnace.  I want to try to get my combustion  air up first.
