Eric R
Hello - I'm starting a rehab of a Silver 503 No 2. I need to remove the brass nut that connects to feeder screw to the drill shaft. Since it's brass I'm afraid of damaging the piece. I'm looking for someone that can confirm direction in which it loosens and the size of box end wrench I'll need to fit. Any other tips (like how to hold the shaft from spinning) would be most welcome. Thanks!
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks
Welcome aboard... I don't have any tips on the drill but pictures would help. Also if you edit your profile to show your location, you may be surprised how many members are near you and would be willing to help. Another tip is to read this thread to get the best out of the forum. READ THIS FIRST
MilwaukeeJon
Can't answer your question since I've never taken my Silver 1 1/2 (circa 1900) apart. These are great tools and rip through steel. All my pre-drifting of hammer eyes and pin holes on knives are done on this old beauty:
Eric R
Thanks, Jon. I did finally find the right size and took the whole drill apart. In the process of getting dried grease off before giving it a coat of penitrol.
