racer3j
First time I tried to light the Baby to cook the ITC. With regulator backed all the way off and forge valve closed, when I crack the tank, it pegs the gauge and shuts down flow. The tank is fine with my bigger gasser. So, what's the deal here?mike
Dave Hammer
Try closing the valve at the forge, openng the regulator just a little, opening the tank valve, wait a few seconds, then crack the forge valve just a little to light it.
racer3j
Thanks, I will try that-outside of the garage.mike
PJ234
Could the regulator be installed backwards? If not, maybe close the tank, back off the regulator, and vent the forge to release the pressure in the lines and start over again.
racer3j
I'll bet I put it together backwards. I'll check later- it is the kind of bonehead thing I would do - not always, but not a rarity either. mike
racer3j
Backwards it is, YESSIRREE! Thanks, it was grinding on me.Mike
PJ234
I'm still a newbie, but the first night of a class I recently took gave me an experience similar to the one you described above, and it turned out that the regulator had been installed backwards in that case. We just swapped it out for a different one and went to work, so I don't know if this causes any permanent damage to regulator and/or gauge. Good luck!
