medic560 Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 I ended up with this stake anvil today and wanted to see if anyone had an idea about age or value. It is 24 inches high and about 52 pounds. Thanks in advance...Mike Quote
ThomasPowers Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 Several hundred pesos at least. You are in Mexico like I am during the working hours, right? Quote
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 Hi Mike welcome to IFI... We won't remember that once leaving this post, hence the suggestion to edit your profile to show location. READ THIS FIRST Quote
ThomasPowers Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 Most of them I have seen or owned are quite soft; what does the ball bearing test give for the face of it? That value will affect the value quite a bit; if it's soft it's more of a collector's piece of an adjunct horn/heel for an improvised anvil. I have seen them in old books being used for barrel making to bend and weld the hoops. I have not seen any with wear patterns that looked like they had been used for shoeing. Quote
