Dodge
Andrei, That is so cool. You do know we will be stealing that idea. Right? . I will try to come up with my own pattern with respect to your design of course;) Very nice!!!
trying-it
Andrei that's a real nice lamp and artsy too. As I was told in SIUC artist blacksmithing classes, modern methods (like A/O, mig, tig, and arc welding) may be utilized, but should never be seen in the finished item. At SIUC, if any modern methods were visible it cost the maker a full letter grade being subtracted from final project grade. Another SIUC tip was to make something that leaves the viewer pondering as to just exactly how the piece was made. I think you succeeded quite well. Hillbillysmith
Awesome lamp. What is that finished in?? Btw, who is that in the second pic on the computer monitor?
bipolarandy
The finish is several coats of enamel spray paint, If I do more like this, im gonna swich to powder coating. Thanks for the A+ Stan , A/O is a modern method? They used gas torches in the 1850's... and arc welding goes back awile too... I think craftsmen put too much thought into only using certain tools or methods of construction. Just like your sig says you gotta do it with whatever you have to work with, not what some teacher says is historically correct. -Andrei
