Wethepeople762
Wondering if anyone could help me age my Wilkinson anvil. Just picked it up a week ago, got it cleaned up today. 180lbs, 4” face. Wilkinsons and crossed canons are clearly visible. On the back bottom it looks like either “135” or “185” is stamped in it. On the back the only visible numbers of the hundred weight would be the last of the three which is “17”. I weighed it and it is 180lbs. Marc1
Nice anvil. It seems that a previous attempt at welding the edge has came off in part. Don't worry about it, it is in perfect nick for forging on it. As for trying to age it, I wouldn't do it. It looks old as it is, no need to do anything to it to make it look older. Wethepeople762
Yeah there’s some repairs that were made at some point. I was actually looking for it’s age, how old the anvil is.
Marc1
Plenty of experts in dating an anvil around here. i am not one of them I am however an expert in aging. Worked for over a decade making antique reproductions for an antique shop.
